I have been providing psychotherapy since 2008, and have expertise in treating PTSD, complex trauma, anxiety, grief, and moral injury. Through my years of practice, I have learned that my showing up as another human in the room is an important part of the therapeutic process. I consider my approach to be radically genuine, meaning that I come to you as another person navigating the world. I am collaborative, authentic, and warm, while also being transparent, direct, and honest with you.

Abeja (ah*be*hah) means bee in Spanish. I choose Abeja as my business name as a nod to my Latina heritage, and also because of my admiration of bees as creatures. Bees thrive in community, have a role and purpose, are collaborative, effortful, and contribute meaningfully to the ecosystem. That description parallels my approach to supporting healing, I believe it happens in relationship with others, and I am a collaborator to help reconnect with what matters most to you.

Bees are alchemists, they turn nectar into honey. I see therapy and healing being a similar transformation, when attending to, processing, and integrating, a wound can become a gift.

    My Clinical Experience

I have over a decade of experience providing therapy with Veterans through VA services. My career offered opportunities to work with adults of all ages, different identities, and life experiences. My career allowed me to receive specialized education, consultation, and training in best mental health practices.

For the past 1.5 years I have been working as a research psychologist studying psychedelic assisted therapy. I will continue in that role part time, and have the opportunity now of expanding my work into the community through Abeja Therapy.
